Scott Burt, D.V.M.

Dr. Burt graduated from Texas A&M University with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. After a 2 year residency with Dr. Akin Simpson here at Highland Animal Hospital, he purchased the practice in 1986.

He is married to Debbie, and they have three daughters; Callie, LeDawn, and Codye.(All married also - hallelujah!) Toodles,Harvey,Noah, and Gracie make up their animal clan.

Their are blessed with two grandsons,Boston and Jaxson.

Dr. Burt and Debbie are very active with their church, Trinity Baptist.

 

Debbie Burt, Hospital Administrator

Debbie is the BOSS! The wife of Dr. Burt, she has been the backbone of our practice for the last 25 years. She is responsible for all staff scheduling, practice management, accounting, and also receptionist as needed.

Her special pet is "Toodles".

 

Debbie Barr, Veterinary Assistant

Debbie has been with us now for 9 years and we guess we will keep her. She was born and raised in Knox City (we don't hold that against her).She has a menagerie of 2 dogs and 4 cats.

 

Jessie Hernandez

Jessie is the "senior" staff member here at Highland Animal Hospital. He began working here in 1965 and we still have to put up with him. A faithful employee and a great man! He is our semi-retired custodian.

 

Lisa Janssen, Registered Veterinary Technician

Lisa Janssen is our registered veterinary technician.
She graduated from Big Spring High School and then attended the Midland College Technician Program, graduating in 2004. She completed her clinical internship here at Highland Animal Hospital, then became a part of our clinic staff.

Her family includes her husband Troy, daughter Mallory, along with her pets, Luke - a Chihuahua, and two cats Starsky and Hutch.

She is learning with every new day and experience and is here to help your animals needs.

 

Kyle Guthrie, Veterinary Assistant

Kyle is new to the community of Big Spring. He has been married for 2 years to Keri and has a new baby girl named Kaelyn Reese, born in September 2009. He has a 2 year old dog named "Dollie".

Kyle was a K-9 Drug/Bomb dog handler in Dallas/Fort Worth in 2003-2004 and searched the area schools and businesses for the community.

His favorite hobby is storm chasing, as well as his love for animals.
